In 2025, South Carolina lawmakers enacted three bills amending existing laws to include sexual deepfakes. The first law (SC HB 3058) amends existing laws on disclosing intimate material to include intentionally disseminating digitally forged intimate images of another person without their consent. South Carolina lawmakers also enacted two laws amending existing laws adding sexual deepfakes of minors to laws related to child pornography (SC SB 29) and clarifying that it is unlawful to make or distribute any sexual depictions of a minor, including computer-generated images (SC SB 28).
